Every book is a journey. Sometimes you accompany the author’s journey, and sometimes you find yourself in what is written. You can fly through the clouds in the blue sky, and fight monsters on top of mountains. Especially if these writings are about entering the world of children and opening new horizons for them, it can be both a fun and a more challenging process.
When we first met Pamey Publications, I didn’t have much experience in book design. I had designed brochures and catalogs, but I had never designed a book. When you get into it, you realize that you have stepped into a completely different world.
Pamey Publications includes many book brands. The authors are not well-known or very experienced authors. For example, there may even be teachers and students in a school who have put their amateur spirit on paper. The important thing is to reflect that spirit well. The name of the book, its cover, the typesetting of the inside, and the placement of the pictures can all be a design in themselves. Here, while designing what the author writes, you should also do your job by thinking about the reader.
The world of children’s books is different!
I used Photoshop on the cover. I used InDesign programs for the interior designs. I used After Effects for the introductions of the books. I designed more than a hundred books. In fact, at one time, I was not only involved in the design but also in the printing stages of the books. I cannot describe the excitement and emotion I felt when the pages of the books came out of the printing machine. Who knows, maybe in the future, I can turn my own writings into books and be both the writer, the designer and the printer.
